Our History

Calvary Chapel Austin started as a small fellowship in 1991 meeting at a Howard Johnson Hotel near the downtown Austin area. As the church grew, locations changed to larger rented facilities. In 2007, Calvary Austin purchased the vacated Albertson’s grocery store in Pflugerville, where we currently meet. Terry Michaels became the lead pastor of Calvary Austin in 2009.
Since its earliest beginnings, Calvary Austin gained a reputation as a church where the Bible is clearly taught in a manner that is refreshing and applicable for today. The atmosphere is casual while the congregation reflects the diversity Austin is known for. As we continue to move forward in faith, our core mission remains to bring glory to God through the proclamation of His word, gathering together in gospel-centered community, serving our city and making disciples.
